AI data licensing for UK companies

A UK company that has run on the same tools for years holds records AI labs licence: support tickets, email and chat, documents, CRM history and written-down workflows. This is the short route for a company in the United Kingdom: what is different, and where each part is explained in full.

What is different for a UK company

Where the buyers areThe AI labs and model teams we work with are mostly in the United States. They look at companies in the United States first, then the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, so a UK company is in the first group. No record leaves before you sign.
Which privacy law appliesUK data protection law decides what has to come out of the records before a lab sees them: the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. Our United Kingdom rules page sets them out with their official sources, so this page does not repeat them.
Customers and staff in the recordsIf the records name people, plan for de-identification before you talk to a buyer. It is a service of its own, described on the de-identification page.
A company that has stopped tradingLiquidators, administrators and official receivers have a section of their own on the page for closing companies.

Where to start

Get a rough range first with the calculator, which takes about a minute. Then tell us what you hold and for how many years. The steps after that are the same as for any company, and how a deal runs lists them.

Questions UK companies ask

Do you work with UK companies?

Yes. We are a broker and technical advisor based in the United States. The AI labs we sell to look at companies in the United States first, then the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, so a UK company is in the group they look at first.

Can a UK company licence its data to an AI lab in another country?

Yes. Sending personal data to another country has its own UK rules, which our United Kingdom rules page sets out. Taking the personal information out of the records first is part of how we handle it.

Who pays your fee?

The AI lab buying the data pays our broker fee, only after the deal closes. You pay nothing to start.

Our company is in liquidation or administration. Is this page for us?

Partly. The records of a company that has stopped trading can still be licensed, and the section for insolvency practitioners on our closing companies page covers what is different. This is general information, not legal advice. Ask your own counsel what applies to your company.
