Why Your Data Broker Asks for 3 Months of Exclusivity (2026)
Why 3 months with one data broker in 2026?
When I ask a company owner for 3 months of exclusivity in 2026, some owners think I want to lock up their data.
I do not.
It is not about who licenses your data, and it is not about who owns it.
It is about who shows it to AI labs.
For 3 months, you work with one data broker while I find you the best deal.
Why 3 months?

When I ask a company owner for 3 months of exclusivity in 2026, some owners think I want to lock up their data.
I do not.
It is not about who licenses your data, and it is not about who owns it.
It is about who shows it to AI labs.
For 3 months, you work with one data broker while I find you the best deal.
Why 3 months?
It starts with how long a big purchase takes.
How long does a big purchase take?
At large companies, a purchase over $100,000 takes about 91 days on average to get through buying and approvals.
That is about 3 months.
When an AI lab licenses your data, it is a big purchase too, because someone has to review the data, sign off on it and find the budget for it.
That takes time.
So 3 months gives a lab one full buying cycle to look at your data, and it gives me the time to bring it to the right labs.
Before I show you how, let me tell you who I am.
I'm Jimmy. I have worked in data at Fortune 500 companies, as a data analyst, a data engineer and a software engineer, and I am trained in data science. I am also a Canadian military veteran, where I specialized in data analysis and reporting.
Are you selling your data? We are your broker and technical advisor. We get you the best price, and we guide your team through the technical side, so your data stays private.
Are you buying data for an AI lab? We find the right data for you and see it through to delivery, so you can focus on advancing AI research.
Now, what happens in those 3 months?
In my experience, AI labs get more data offers than they have time to review, so a good offer can wait in line and never get a real look.
Yours should not.
That is why, as your broker and technical advisor, I start by preparing your package: what data you have, how many years it covers, and how we de-identify it, which means we strip out the names of your staff and your customers.
A lab can judge it fast.
Then I bring it to a short list of AI labs that fit your data, and I bring every offer back to you.
You compare them side by side.
Here is why I ask you to work with one data broker.
If 2 or 3 brokers show the same data, the AI lab gets the same offer twice, from different people and often at different prices.
Picture that from their side.
The lab can not tell who speaks for you, so your data can get set aside and the process slows down.
Everyone's time is wasted.
But there is a better way.
With one data broker, the lab gets one clear offer, it knows exactly who to call, and your data gets a real review.
Of course, the 3 months has limits, so let me be clear about what it does not mean.
First, you do not have to take any offer.
I work through the terms with you, and you make the final call.
Second, you keep your data.
It is a license, not a sale, so you keep using your data, and you can still license it to more than one AI lab through me.
And it does not last forever.
Nothing moves until your team signs off, and the agreement ends after 3 months, unless a lab is still reviewing your data and you agree to extend it.
Best of all?
You do not pay anything: AI companies pay my fee.
So, 3 months with one data broker is not a lock on your data.
It is one buying cycle.
You get one clear offer, and every decision stays with you.
If you run a company with 30 or more people, the data you already have could become a new revenue stream.
