Exclusive deals give a single AI lab a time-limited, exclusive right to train on a company's operational data. The company keeps ownership of the data while you gain sole access for the agreed period.

What makes a deal exclusive

An exclusive license blocks every other buyer from using the same dataset while the contract runs. The value spikes when the data comes from a rare industry, spans years of continuous history on a particular tool, or captures detailed decision-making chains that are hard to duplicate. Because you are the only party that can train on the data, the price reflects both uniqueness and volume.

Typical contracts run for about two years, though shorter terms are possible at a lower price. No exclusive license is perpetual; when the term ends the data can be offered to other buyers or renegotiated with the original seller.

Data types that command exclusivity

Buyers look for operational data that shows a complete end-to-end workflow. The most sought-after categories are:

  • Support tickets that include full resolution notes, showing how problems are diagnosed and fixed.
  • Chat threads where a decision was reached, capturing the reasoning steps.
  • CRM and sales activity logs that connect outreach to closed deals.
  • SOPs, internal documentation, and knowledge-base articles that describe how work is performed.
  • QA records, project histories, and accounting exports that link requests to outcomes.

An email archive on its own usually lacks the clear request-to-result chain that models need, so it commands a lower price.

How price is determined

Three factors drive the price of an exclusive deal.

  1. Data volume. Larger companies generate more records, which adds value. There is no upper limit on company size; a bigger dataset simply raises the price.
  2. Data type and rarity. A niche industry or a dataset that includes years of continuous history on the same tools earns a premium.
  3. Data quality and rights. Clean rights, visible reasoning, and the ability to de-identify personal information without losing context increase the price.

Deal values range from $100,000 to $2 million USD. Buyers often cite $200,000 to $300,000 USD for a typical exclusive arrangement.

The broker's role in an exclusive deal

We act as a neutral intermediary between sellers and buyers. First, we ask the seller a few basic questions about their data, no files are transferred at this stage. We turn those answers into a one-page summary and share it with several interested AI labs. Each lab returns a quote and a set of conditions that fit the seller's needs.

Negotiations are collaborative. We work through the terms with you, and you make the final call. No contract is signed and no data moves until you accept a quote. Once an agreement is reached, the data is exported securely and de-identified. All personally identifiable information and any content marked confidential by the seller is removed. Names become stable pseudonyms such as "employee 632" using automated tools that trained humans review.

Who performs the de-identification, how raw files are handled, and when they are deleted are defined case by case in the contract. The seller reviews a sample of the de-identified data before anything is accepted, giving confidence in the process.

Legal safeguards

Every dataset must pass a legal check. The seller must own the data, and its customer contracts must allow de-identified use. Counsel reviews the license to confirm that all personal data can be removed and that the seller's policies are respected.

Because the seller retains ownership, they continue to use the data internally. The license is usually a one-time payment, with the option to refresh the agreement later if both parties agree.

What buyers gain from exclusivity

Exclusive access lets a lab build models that are uniquely tuned to a specific workflow or industry. The data can train large language models or create reinforcement-learning environments where the real business process becomes a task, a grader, and a trajectory for the model to imitate.

Having a single source also simplifies provenance tracking. Each data package comes with a memo that documents where the data originated, how it was de-identified, and what rights were cleared. This transparency is critical for compliance and for maintaining trust with downstream users of the trained models.

Adding workflow licensing

Beyond raw records, some sellers license documented workflows. This may include recorded task runs, AI-assisted task logs, or department-level process maps. Pricing is typically per organizational workflow and can be adjusted by department if the seller prefers. The capture method is agreed upon after a quote is accepted, ensuring that no additional data is collected without consent.

Next steps for AI labs

If you have identified a data type or industry that would give your models a competitive edge, tell us exactly what you need. Provide a brief description of the data, the desired volume, and any specific attributes such as years of history or rarity. We will match your request with qualified sellers, obtain quotes, and bring the best offer back to you.

Questions people ask

What does "exclusive" really mean in a data license?

It means you are the only party allowed to use the licensed dataset for the agreed term. The seller cannot grant the same data to any other buyer until the exclusivity period ends.

Do I get ownership of the data after I pay?

No. The seller retains ownership and can continue to use the data internally. You receive a time-limited license that grants exclusive training rights.

How is personal information handled?

All personally identifiable information is removed before the data is transferred. Names are replaced with stable pseudonyms, and the de-identification process is reviewed by humans to ensure no sensitive details remain.

Can I extend the exclusivity period later?

Yes. After the original term expires, you can negotiate a renewal or a new exclusive agreement, subject to the seller's consent and a revised price.
