Yes, a manufacturer can license quotes and engineering change requests (ECRs) to AI labs. The data must meet our fit criteria and be de-identified before any buyer sees it. You need at least 30 full-time employees, clear ownership of the records, and a way to strip personally identifiable information.
Why quotes and ECRs matter to AI labs
AI labs build models that predict costs, optimise supply chains, and suggest design tweaks. A raw number tells them little; a full decision chain does. A quote that includes the customer request, the cost breakdown, negotiation notes and the final acceptance shows how pricing actually works. An ECR that records the original specification, the design discussion, the approval workflow and the implemented revision lets a model learn how technical decisions evolve over time.
When the dataset contains the reasoning behind a price or a change, labs can replay the workflow in a reinforcement-learning environment, reward successful outcomes and improve future recommendations. The richer the context, the higher the offer you can expect.
Fit checklist and pricing levers
- Employee threshold, 30+ full-time staff.
- Data ownership. You hold the rights to the quotes and ECRs, and your customer contracts permit de-identified use.
- Clear rights. No lingering confidentiality clauses that would block sharing.
- Continuous history. Several years of records on the same quoting or change-order system increase value.
Three factors usually shift the price: volume, longevity, and rarity. More records generally raise the offer, an uninterrupted history on a single system is prized, and a niche market such as medical-device casings commands a premium because few comparable datasets exist.

How the licensing process works
- Free fit check. Answer a few basic questions on our sell page. No data leaves your environment at this stage.
- One-page summary. We turn your answers into a short briefing and circulate it to several large AI labs.
- Offers and terms. Labs return proposals; we bring the best one back to you with the licence conditions.
- Negotiation. You and the buyer agree on price, exclusivity period (typically 24 months), and any workflow-specific add-ons.
- Secure export & de-identification. After you sign, the data is moved to a logged workspace. We either de-identify it ourselves as a separate service (de-identification page) or the buyer handles it, depending on the contract. All PII and confidential markers become stable pseudonyms such as "employee 632."
- Deal close. The AI lab pays the broker fee after the transaction completes. You keep ownership of the data and continue using it internally.
Illustrative set: imagine a 75-person aerospace components maker. Twelve months of sales quotes (part number, customer, quoted price, discount rationale, acceptance date) paired with three years of ECRs (original spec, change description, cost impact, approval workflow, revision number) let a lab train a model that predicts cost impact before a design change is approved and suggests pricing tactics based on past negotiations.

Questions people ask
Can I license only a subset of my quotes?
Yes. You can select a time range, product line, or any logical segment. The buyer prices the subset based on its size and completeness.
Do I have to give the buyer raw files?
No. Data is exported to a secure, logged workspace where it can be de-identified before the buyer ever sees it. The handling method is settled in the contract.
What if my quotes contain customer-specific confidential terms?
Those terms must be removed or masked during de-identification. Our service can handle that, or you can clean the files yourself before export.
