What happens to Slack, email and tickets after you close

When you shut down, your Slack, email and support data can be de-identified, licensed to AI labs, and still remain yours.

When you close your company, your Slack messages, email threads and support tickets don't just disappear. We can package them, strip personal details, and license the data to AI labs while you keep ownership.

What data you can license

AI labs want the full story behind a business decision. A Slack exchange that ends with a clear resolution, a ticket that shows the problem, the steps taken and the final outcome, or an email chain that records a sales negotiation all have value. They learn from the chain that runs from request to result, not from a single line of chat.

Typical data that attracts interest includes:

  • Support tickets that contain the problem description, actions taken and resolution.
  • Chat threads (Slack, Teams, etc.) where a decision was reached.
  • CRM and sales activity that shows how a deal moved forward.
  • Standard operating procedures, knowledge-base articles and QA records.

The longer the history you have on the same tools, the higher the price can be. A rare industry or a clean-rights situation also pushes the value up.

How we keep your information safe

Your data never leaves your environment until you approve a quote. First we send you a short questionnaire; you do not upload any files. Your answers become a one-page summary that we share with several AI labs. If a lab wants to move forward, we bring the quote back to you.

When a deal is signed, we export the data securely and de-identify it immediately. All personally identifiable information and anything your policy marks as confidential is removed. Names become stable pseudonyms such as "employee 632". Automated tooling does the bulk of the work; trained human reviewers verify the result.

Who performs the de-identification, how raw files are handled and how they are deleted are spelled out in the contract. You will review a sample of the de-identified data before anything is accepted. We do not promise an independent third-party vendor; everything is arranged case by case.

What the licensing agreement looks like

You are not selling your data; you are granting a time-limited license. The most common term is 24 months of exclusivity, but a shorter term is possible at a lower price. The license is a one-time payment; you can negotiate a later refresh if you wish.

There is no upfront cost to you. The buyer pays a finder's fee only when the deal closes, and our advisory fee is owed only when the deal closes and is agreed in writing first. If no deal closes, you owe nothing.

Because the data remains yours, you can continue to use it internally. The license does not affect your ability to run the same Slack workspace, email system or ticketing platform.

How to find out if you're a fit

  1. Answer a few basic questions on our site. No data is transferred at this stage.
  2. We turn your answers into a concise summary and share it with a curated set of AI labs.
  3. Interested labs return quotes and the conditions they need.
  4. You compare the offers and select the one that matches your goals.

All legal checks happen before any dataset is licensed. We confirm that you own the data, that your customer contracts allow de-identified use, and that all PII can be removed. Counsel reviews every license.

Questions people ask

What if I only want to license part of my Slack history?

You can define the time range, channels or specific projects you want to include. The scope is set in the contract, and de-identification applies only to the selected data.

Will licensing affect my ability to keep the data for internal use?

No. The license gives the buyer a non-exclusive right for the agreed term. You retain full access to the original data and can keep using it for day-to-day operations.

How do I know the buyer will not re-identify my data?

The license includes a provenance memo that documents the de-identification process and the rights granted. The buyer is contractually bound not to attempt re-identification, and any breach would be a legal violation.

What if my customer contracts prohibit any data sharing?

If a contract explicitly forbids any use of the data, even in de-identified form, the dataset cannot be licensed. We verify those rights during the legal check before any quote is offered.
