What sets the price of your data?

Hello, everyone. If you license your company's data to AI companies, who decides what it is worth?

There is no price list, and no 2 deals look alike, so people guess.

In this video, I will show you the 4 questions an AI company asks before it names a price, and which ones you can change.

  1. Hello, everyone. If you license your company's data to AI companies, who decides what it is worth?

There is no price list, and no 2 deals look alike, so people guess.

In this video, I will show you the 4 questions an AI company asks before it names a price, and which ones you can change.

  2. Imagine you hand the same set of company data to 2 different AI companies, and ask each one to name a price.

You will not get the same answer, and the gap can be large.

That is not random, because every AI company works through the same few questions before it speaks.

So let us start with the part that surprises most owners: there is no price list.

  3. I'm Jimmy. I have worked in data at Fortune 500 companies, as a data analyst, a data engineer and a software engineer, and I am trained in data science. I am also a Canadian military veteran, where I specialized in data analysis and reporting.

Are you selling your data? We are your broker and technical advisor. We get you the best price, and we guide your team through the technical side, so your data stays private.

Are you buying data for an AI lab? We find the right data for you and see it through to delivery, so you can focus on advancing AI research.

  4. Think of a menu board where every price says it depends.

That is what data licensing looks like today, because each deal is one of a kind, and the price comes from the data and the AI company's need.

I can not tell you a number for your data, and anyone who does before looking at it is guessing.

What I can tell you is how the price gets built, and it comes down to 4 questions.

  5. First, the simplest question: do we already have this?

An AI company can find plenty of public text, so a copy of what is already out there is worth little to it.

What it can not easily find is how a real team works day to day, and researchers have warned that AI trained mostly on AI-made text can break down, so data about real human work is becoming more valuable.

That is rarity, and your data gets rarer the more specific it is to your trade.

  6. Next comes effort: can we use it as it arrives?

If the AI company has to clean it, sort it and remove names first, all of that work comes off the price.

If it is already de-identified, organised and described, it can start right away, and it earns a stronger offer.

That part is the one we guide your team through, before any AI company sees a single file.

  7. Then there is trust: do we know where it came from?

An AI company wants proof that you own the data, that your team and customers are covered, and that nothing private is left in it.

This is a real problem across the industry, because one large audit of more than 1,800 text datasets found license details missing on more than 70% of them.

So when your paperwork is clear, you stand out, and you get a better price.

  8. Finally, the room: who else wants it?

With one AI company at the table, that company sets the price, because you have nothing to compare it with.

With several, you can put the offers side by side, and the terms improve for you.

That is why I bring your data to more than one AI company, and you make the final call.

  9. Put the 4 questions together and you get 4 dials.

Rarity is mostly set by the market, so that dial is not yours to move.

But the other 3 are yours to move: make the data ready, make the paperwork clear, and give it more than one AI company to talk to.

That is where I work through the terms with you, and you make the final call.

  10. So, is your data ready to be priced? Now you know the 4 questions that decide it.

If you run a company with 30 or more people, the data you already have could become a new revenue stream. You can find out if yours qualifies, for free, at AITrainingDataBroker.com.

If you have further questions, leave them in the comments, and I will answer them in the next video.

Thank you for watching, and I will see you next time.
