Why No One Can Price Your Company's Data Without a Sample

The first thing every owner asks me is, what is my data worth?

I wish I could answer in one line, but no one honestly can, and that includes me.

In this video I will show you why a price needs a sample, what a safe sample looks like, and what you can do today without one.

Stay to the end, because the free estimate I will mention is not an offer, and the difference matters.

  2. Many owners expect a number on the first call, but the honest answer is that it depends on what the data actually contains.

Take 2 companies that both say they have 5 years of support tickets, because one of them can hold data worth many times more than the other.

So any number quoted before anyone has seen a sample is a guess, however confident it sounds.

First, you should know who is telling you this.

  3. I'm Jimmy. I have worked in data at Fortune 500 companies, as a data analyst, a data engineer and a software engineer, and I am trained in data science. I am also a Canadian military veteran, where I specialized in data analysis and reporting.

Are you selling your data? We are your broker and technical advisor. We get you the best price, and we guide your team through the technical side, so your data stays private and within the privacy rules that apply to it.

Are you buying data for an AI lab? We find the right data for you and see it through to delivery, so you can focus on advancing AI research.

  4. So, let us start with why a label tells you so little.

Take 2 companies that both say they have support tickets, and an AI company looks at 3 things inside them.

First is the whole task, from the first message to the final fix, and not just a one-line status.

Second is the outcome, which means the result is kept next to the work, such as the refund approved or the problem solved.

Third is how many years it goes back, because AI companies learn from how the work changes over time.

Those 2 sets of tickets can differ on all 3, and the label shows none of it.

  5. Next, you need to know the difference between an estimate and an offer.

An estimate is a range that helps you plan, and nobody is committed to it, while an offer is a fixed amount in writing with the terms attached.

What sits between them is a sample, because an AI company will not commit to an amount for data it has never seen.

So if someone gives you a firm price on the first call, ask what they looked at, because the honest answer is nothing.

    Ask anyway.

  6. What does a safe sample look like?

We start with a small slice of your data, and not the whole archive.

We de-identify it, which means we strip out the names, emails and prices, so Priya becomes Customer 14 in every ticket and email.

Then you review it and approve it, because nothing leaves until you say so.

It is shared only under an agreement, and the AI company checks it while your raw files stay with you.

  7. Now let us turn this into a checklist for the next offer you receive.

Watch for 6 warning signs: a price before any sample, pressure to decide fast, and raw data requested before a contract.

Also be careful when you can not review the cleaned data before it leaves, when someone promises zero risk, or when they want standing access to your systems with no end date.

Any one of these is a reason to slow down, and 2 or more is a reason to walk away.

  8. What can you do today, before anyone has seen a sample?

Use the free estimate on AITrainingDataBroker.com, which asks 9 questions, takes about a minute, and needs no sign-up.

It gives you a rough range, and it is an estimate, not an offer, but it tells you if your data is worth taking to the next step.

After that comes a small sample that you approve, and only then can a real offer exist.

  9. That is where a broker and technical advisor comes in.

As your broker, I bring your data to several AI companies and AI labs, get competing offers for you to compare, and work through the terms with you, and you make the final call.

As your technical advisor, I guide your team through the technical side, which means what to export, in what format, and how your data is cleaned so personal information stays private and within the privacy rules that apply to it.

Nothing moves until your team signs off, and the terms are agreed case by case.

And you do not pay anything for the broker work: AI companies pay my fee.

  10. So, what is your company's data worth? Start with the free estimate today, and let a small sample get you to a real answer.

You do not sign anything to start.

If you run a company with 30 or more people, the data you already have could become a new revenue stream.
