AI Labs Want Lab Notebook Data Right Now (Nov 4)

Do you have lab notebooks, and do you wonder if anyone wants them?

As of today, November 4, a company that sources data for an AI client has sent us a request.

In this video, I will show you what it asks for, who may hold that data, and what to do today if that is you.

Stay to the end, because requests like this can change within days.

  2. That request is for lab notebook data.

A lab notebook is the written record of an experiment: the plan, the steps, what was seen, and what went wrong.

It wants the whole process, including the failed attempts and the troubleshooting.

Most people think a failed experiment is worthless, but this request says the opposite.

If you run a research lab, a university department or a biotech, you may already hold what it wants.

The same goes for a pharma research team or a government lab.

First, let me tell you who I am.

  3. I'm Jimmy. I have worked in data at Fortune 500 companies, as a data analyst, a data engineer and a software engineer, and I am trained in data science. I am also a Canadian military veteran, specialized in data analysis and reporting.

If you want to sell your data, I am your broker and technical advisor. I bring your data to several AI companies, and I guide your team through the technical side, including compliance. AI companies pay my fee.

Already shopping your data around? Contact us anyway. We can still work through the terms with you and help you negotiate a better price.

If you are buying data for an AI lab, I find the right data and see it through to delivery, so you can focus on AI research.

  4. Here is what the request asks for.

First, text from research logs and notebooks that shows the full scientific process.

That means the experiment designs, the hypotheses, the steps, the observations, the failed attempts, and the thinking that connects them.

It also wants the context, the next steps, and examples of troubleshooting.

Second, a few labels on each entry: the field, the outcome, and the source.

The field is something like organic chemistry or molecular biology, and the outcome is success, failure or inconclusive.

The source is an academic repository, a government lab archive or industry disclosure.

Third, proof that personal information and sensitive intellectual property were removed.

The text goes as PDF or plain text, and the figures come as separate image files with their captions and axis labels.

About half of the data should be in English and half in other languages.

This will not fit every lab, because work owned by a sponsor or a partner is not yours to license.

  5. If you hold lab notebook data, contact me through my website today, because a request like this can close within days.

More on how licensing works is at AITrainingDataBroker.com.

If you have further questions, leave them in the comments, and I will answer them in the next video.

Thank you for watching, and I will see you next time.
